Overview

This full-day program will focus on the elements required for obtaining a consumer’s informed consent to treatment and other matters.

We will review in detail the legal alternatives to obtaining substitute consent when the consumer is incapable of making decisions on his or her own behalf.

Topics include assessment of capacity, guardianship, appointment of health care agents, authorized representatives under the revised Human Rights Regulations, court ordered treatment, and the Virginia Health Care Decisions Act.

Legislative changes to the laws pertaining to advance directives will also be highlighted. Registration fee includes box lunch.
