Overview

This “nuts and bolts” program will focus on the requirements of the Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (“HIPAA”) Privacy Rule and how it interacts with Virginia’s privacy laws.

Topics to be discussed include the HIPAA regulations, the Virginia Patient Health Records Privacy Act, the confidentiality and reporting requirements of Virginia’s recently-revised Human Rights regulations, the Federal substance abuse confidentiality regulations (42 CFR Part 2), and special aspects of medical record privacy related to minors.

Registration fee includes box lunch.
