Policy Research Associates, Inc. (PRA) is a professional group offering applied research, policy analysis, evaluation studies, knowledge development and application, and technical assistance, with a primary focus on mental health services issues at the federal, state, and local levels.

The Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute
At the University of South Florida, the Institute incorporates in its larger teaching and research mission several national research centers, including:
- The Center for Evidence-Based Practice: Young Children with Challenging Behavior (which includes a longitudinal multi-site study on the ecological predictors of social-emotional and behavioral development);
- The Research and Training Center for Children’s Mental Health;
- National Technical Assistance Center on Youth Transition (which includes sites funded by SAMSHA demonstrating programs for 14-25 year olds with emotional and behavioral difficulties as they transition to adulthood).
The Institute also maintains the Structured Assessment of Violence on Youth (SAVRY) .
Mental Health, Law, and Policy Institute. Simon Fraser University
The Institute promotes interdisciplinary collaboration in research and training in areas related to mental health law and policy. The primary participating academic units are the Department of Psychology and the School of Criminology at Simon Fraser University, and others, facilitating interdisciplinary research and training in government and community agencies.
The Institute maintains several forensic evaluation instruments: Sexual Violence Risk-20 (SVR-20), Jail Screening Assessment Tool (JSAT), Risk for Sexual Violence Protocol (RSVP; and worksheet, RSVP-W), and HCR-20 Assessing Risk for Violence (and Companion Guide, HCR-20-CG).http://www.sfu.ca/mhlpi/publications.htm
The Urban Institute, Justice Policy Center
The Urban Institute’s Justice Policy Center carries out nonpartisan research concerning crime, justice, and community safety. In recent years, the Center has studied and reported on the impact of incarceration on families and communities, the effectiveness of drug treatment, the role of law enforcement in community safety, and the impact of specialized courts on juvenile and adult offenders. Other studies have focused on gun violence, sentencing and corrections policy, prisoner reentry, victimization, and domestic violence.
