NIMH Outreach Partnership Program
The Outreach Partnership Program is a nationwide initiative of the NIMH with support from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS).
The purpose of the program is to enlist national and state organizations in partnerships to help bridge the gap between research and clinical practice by disseminating the latest scientific findings, informing the public about mental disorders, alcoholism, and drug addiction, and reducing the stigma and discrimination associated with these illnesses.
SAMSHA Shaping Mental Health Services Toward Recovery
Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Implementation Resource Kits are available for ordering. These are “evaluation editions” and SAMSHA would like to receive comments and suggestions about further refinement, especially about usefulness and effectiveness of the Kits - what works and what doesn’t work.
Although rigorous testing of the Resource Kits will not be completed until a National Demonstration ends in 2005, SAMHSA expects that the Resource Kits will be found to be effective tools for promoting change and helping States to implement EBPs.
The six kits are for Illness Management and Recovery, Medication Management in Psychiatry, Assertive Community Treatment, Family Psycho education, Supported Employment, and Co-occuring Disorders: Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment.
Jail Diversion Initiative
The Jail Diversion Program is coordinated with the Department of Justice's solicitation "Mental Health Court Grants Program," authorized in P.L. 106-515, Part V, Section 2201. The overall goal of this collaboration is to improve policy and practice for addressing the needs of persons with a mental illness or co-occurring disorders who become involved with the criminal justice system.

Little Hoover Commission
This California State Legislative Commission has a long list active research projects, as well many published studies and reports
Upon a report of the Commission, in February 2005 the California Legislature and Governor began to reorganize the Youth and Adult Correctional system. The Commission also recommended that the administration and Legislature aggressively pursue opportunities to further improve the correctional system, particularly youth corrections.
The Commission committed itself to reviewing the progress of the corrections reforms in one year; including progress toward the implementation of evidence-based strategies to improve outcomes for women offenders, and development of performance measures for the goals in the strategic plan.
